WordPress is powerful, but many small business websites use only a fraction of what WordPress provides. If the site is a brochure site with service pages, contact forms, blog posts and location content, the maintenance burden can become larger than the benefit.
Signs WordPress is becoming a burden
- The site depends on old plugins or an abandoned theme
- Updates regularly break layout or forms
- Hosting is slow or shared with unrelated sites
- Backups exist but have never been tested
- Admin accounts do not use MFA
- Nobody is clearly responsible for maintenance
When hardening is enough
If the business needs frequent editing, ecommerce, memberships or complex integrations, it may be better to keep WordPress and fix the weak points: updates, hosting, backups, access controls and plugin hygiene.
When static is a better fit
If the site changes occasionally and mainly needs fast pages, clean SEO, contact forms and low maintenance, a static rebuild can reduce moving parts. There is no WordPress admin panel to attack and no plugin update treadmill.
Static sites still need professional handling: redirects, metadata, forms, DNS, analytics, backups and launch planning all matter.
Plan the move carefully
A good migration starts with a review of the current site, content, search visibility, forms, DNS records and rollback options.
